Doctors save Genting bus crash survivor's arm after nine-hour surgery
I have a article.. I refer to my reader to read this article..
A MOTHER'S COMFORTING TOUCH: Salmiah with Ifwat at the hospital's hand and microsurgery ward
SELAYANG: Salmiah Abdul Raof, 47, was earlier distraught by the thought of her youngest son, Ahmad Ifwat Abdul Halim, possibly losing his left arm due to injuries suffered in the fatal bus crash at KM38 Genting Sempah on Friday.
"When we arrived at Selayang Hospital about 5am on Saturday, the doctor told me Ifwat only had a 50-50 chance of keeping his arm because the nerves were damaged. The doctor asked my husband to sign the consent form to allow the medical team to amputate my boy's arm should it be necessary."
Salmiah had earlier refused to sign the form but her husband agreed as doctors could not proceed with Ifwat's operation otherwise.
"I told the doctor to try as hard as he could to allow Ifwat to keep his arm because he's only 15. He still has so much to do with his life."
After the nine-hour surgery on Saturday was successful, Ifwat was released from the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU) at noon yesterday. He was in stable condition at the hospital's hand and microsurgery unit. He also suffered from bruises on his face and chest.
"I have no doubt Ifwat will be able to use his left hand just like before after therapy. I'm grateful to God because Ifwat is able to communicate and is eating well."
She said Ifwat once told her he wanted to be a soldier, just like his father, Abdul Halim Aripin, 54.
"Since the accident, I would wake up at 3am and pray his hand would heal so he can do whatever he wished. It doesn't matter if he becomes a soldier or a mechanic. I can only hope and pray things will go well for him."
Ifwat was one of the 44 members of the Kampung Siong 4B Youth Movement in Kedah involved in the bus crash at 7.50pm on Friday, when the bus skidded and overturned while descending Genting Highlands.
Police said a Mercedez Benz was also involved in the crash. The car driver had yet to lodge a report on the incident at Press time.
Six secondary school students died at the scene while an ustaz, who was also entourage leader, died on the way to Selayang Hospital.

happy feeling
Feeling happy is when you don't know the right way to describe it, the right moment to put into metaphor or the right feelings to put into words. But yet it feel so whole- so complete that nothing else seems to matter. So..priceless. I came to a conclusion that it doesn't matter what happiness truly means because it's something that you can't see or describe it perfectly in words. When you feel it, you know it's happiness. But how do you know that? It's still an answerable question. So despite all the definitions about happiness, I came to realize that happiness varies depending on how you wanna see it as. You can choose to be happy or be sad instead. It's a choice. Happiness, is a choice.
